Pandemonium broke out today at the Osun State Secretariat of the People’s Democratic party leaving many members injured.
A source who was at the scene of the event but escaped unhurt said that the party chairman Hon Soji Adagunodo the National Deputy publicity Secretary of the party Diran Odeyemi and others received beaten of their lives during the fracas.
Hon Soji Adagunodo had invited the stake holders of the party to discuss important issues and how to move the party forward.
It was gathered that midway to the discussion a large number of thugs surfaced at the venue of the meeting chanting Soji must go among other abusive songs.
This as reported by the eye witness angered the chairman who rebuked them and asked them to allow reasons prevailed. Our source said the thugs descended on the chairman who was later helped out by his security men.
According to him Diran Odeyemi was not that lucky as he was mercilessly beaten and his clothe tore to shreds.
It was reliably gathered that the attack was a premeditated one, a fall out of the Dubai trip recently embarked upon by a factional group in the party
” This beating didn’t come as a surprise to any one as we’ve gathered from the grapevine that Soji would be violently sent out of office”.
The source said that the faction that started the crisis also accused some leaders of mismanaging some funds running to hundreds of millions of naira.during the last governorship election in the state.
“Diran was accused of double-dealing, stressing that he had once camped with Ogunbiyi but later moved to Adelekes’ side where a large chunk of money exchanged hands before he again abandoned the group, scouting for another prey.
It was gathered that the crisis was not unconnected with 2022 governorship ambition.
Our source stated that the Adelekes still believe that Ademola Adeleke should have another shot at the state government house, while Adagunodo and others were of the opinion that Ademola Adeleke is no longer saleable and has lost electoral value
As at the time of filling this report the duo of Soji Adaguodo and Diran Ofeyemi are still on bed rest in an undisclosed hospital where they are being attended to. Stay tuned for updates.
