Oyo state government has disclosed that it had expended over 1 billion naira in the fight against the continuing spread of COVID-19 in the state.
The acting chairman of the state task force on COVID-19, Professor Temitope Alonge disclosed this today today during a press briefing at the infectious disease center, Olodo, Ibadan.
Professor Alonge explained that about 200 million naira had been spent on the infectious disease center, Olodo to make it operational from Monday, 6th of April 2020.
He added that about 700 to 800 Million naira has equally been expended on the Intensive care unit, emergency units and testing kits across the isolation centers in the state.
Professor Alonge further stated that about 90 health workers will undergo extensive training starting from Saturday, 4th of April 2020 to effectively combat COVID-19 in Oyo state.
He however maintained that contact tracing of about 140 persons is ongoing and the suspected persons will soon be reached and isolate.
Also material donations worth several millions in form of hospital beds, mattresses, food item, confectionaries, disinfectants by Zartech, Sumal, Niji farms, Kopek, Agropark were received by the government as support in the fight to curtail further spread of COVID-19.
