The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to flattening the curve in the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Honourable Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello stated this on Monday at the Alausa Secretariat, when he received donations of chemical materials from Reckitt and Benckiser producers of JIK bleach, Medlog Logistics Limited and GMT Limited to disinfect more areas in the State against community transmission of the Coronavirus disease.

Bello, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, Mrs. Aderonke Odeneye, also flagged off the continuation of the fumigation and disinfection exercise with the deployment of trucks and sprinklers across the Lagos metropolis.

According to him, “The chemical items used in disinfecting major bus stops, overhead bridges were donated by Reckitt and Benckiser producers of JIK bleach, Medlog Logistics Limited and GMT Limited. The sprinkler and trucks were, however, supplied by Julius Berger Plc”.

While noting that the disinfection exercise is a continuous one, Bello called on other public-spirited organisations to support and complement the efforts of the Lagos State government in its commitment to contain the spread of the COVID-19 in Lagos State.

The Commissioner listed the areas that would be disinfected to include all bus stops and overhead bridges on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road down to the Toll point and Ajah Roundabout.

Others are the Agege Motor Road down to Mangoro, Cement, Ile Zik bus stop and the Ikorodu axis, starting from Ketu through to Mile 12, Owode Onirin and down to Ajegunle and Ikorodu roundabout.
