Kano State Government has relaxed the Presidential lockdown imposed on the state to enable residence shop, as stocks run down in households.
The Governor of the State Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje said two free days have been given for purchases during the lockdown, especially the Ramadan period.
According to Governor Ganduje, “Mondays and Thursdays would be free from 10am to 4pm.”
The Governor also said that markets will not be allowed to open unless supermarkets, whose lists would be announced on local radio stations.
He said only Yankaba Market where perishable items are sold, and Yan Lemo Market that would be allowed to operate on Mondays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm.
Kano, the most populous state and the second biggest commercial city in Nigeria has been on lockdown to curtail the spread of the novel COVID-19 disease ravaging the globe.
Kano state has consistently witnessed rise in confirmed cases of the disease with total number of positive patients climbing to 311 on Friday, ranking second after Lagos State, the epicenter of the disease, according to data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
