Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule has ordered shutdown of the House of Assembly as well as immediate quarantine of all members of the Assembly, including workers.
This directive followed the sudden death of a member of the Assembly, Adamu Sulieman of COVID-19.
Sulieman, who attended sittings less than two weeks ago, interacted with all members at different meetings at the Assembly.
He was said to have suddenly fallen ill on last Thursday, necessitating his blood sample taken immediately at Federal Medical Centre Keffi.
He died in the early hours of Friday and was buried immediately according to lslamic rites.
When the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) returned his test on Sunday, it was positive of COVID-19.
Late Suleiman, until his death, represented Nasarawa Central constituency.
Sule gave the shutdown order at the Presidential Lodge, Lafia during a press briefing on Sunday in Lafia.
He further ordered all the lawmakers to go into quarantine while they await results of their status.
Sule also disclosed that the State has recorded nine confirmed cases of the pandemic with one death, adding that 11 of persons that had contact with the index case have all tested negative.
