TRADITIONAL ruler of Oki Kingdom in Alimosho Local Government of Lagos State Chief Adebayo Badeyemo has advocated stiffer punishment for rapists to deter others.
Badeyemo spoke while giving out palliatives to the indigent and widows in his domain.
The monarch lamented that despite the global lockdown caused by COVID-19, some vicious souls were still prowling about searching for vulnerable ones.
He said: “It is unfortunate that some men can rape minors. I condemn such criminal act and advise that the law should deal with anyone caught in the act to deter others. I arrested a rapist sometime ago and he is still at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre…”
Badeyemo urged men to control their sexual urges and say ‘No’ to rape.
He stressed the need to support the family, especially women, in promoting family values, which breed men and women of good character.
