Residents of the Osun on Friday commended the Administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for running an all inclusive, participatory and people-oriented government.
The residents also expressed satisfaction on the policies and programmes of the administration which they described as people-friendly.
The participants said these at the special anniversary programme organised to commemorate the 2nd year anniversary of the Governor in office.
Speaking at the occasion which was held at Aurora Event Centre, Osogbo, the former Deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, attributed the achievements of the Oyetola’s administration to a reflection of the Governor’s pedigree, competence and experience in both public and private sectors.
He commended the Governor for prioritising the welfare and wellbeing of the people of the State, just as he assured him and his government of the stakeholders’ support.
Omisore urged the people to continue to cooperate with the State government, noting that the Governor meant well for them.
He acknowledged the achievements made within the two years of the Administration which he described as worthwhile and magnificent.
Omisore who noted that the governor has been treading the right path to develop the State and set it to the path of greatness, said “having known Oyetola’s pedigree, I knew he would do well”.
In his response, Governor Oyetola expressed gratitude to the people of the State for being the pillars of support for his Administration.
He said the administration was bent on serving the citizens with a clear conscience and unalloyed devotion to the common good.
Oyetola added: “This is because as an Administration, we are absolutely purpose-driven, motivated by the overriding passion to put smiles on the faces of our teeming citizens and the achieve accelerated revitalisation of our economy.
“You are at the centre of our vision, and you inspire every move we take. It is a vision for a truly prosperous Osun that works for all classes of our people, with adequate physical and social infrastructure to support industry, and where there is abundant economic prosperity for all.
“This is our pact with you. We will not be deterred by our challenges, but rather ride on their waves to get to our promised land.
“In the next two years, we shall double up our efforts and see to it that we take on the uncharted territories — for you, for us and the generation yet unborn. With your support and prayers, we know we shall not fail.”
Earlier, Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye, lauded the Administration of Governor Oyetola for upholding the mandate freely given to him by the people of the State through the m ballot.
He said the Administration had justified the confidence reposed in it by the citizens as manifested in the series of the developmental projects being orchestrated and inaugurated in the last 24 months.
Assuring the Governor of the legislature’s support throughout his Administration, Owoeye noted that members of the legislature would leave no stone unturned to ensure that an all-round success for the Administration.
He canvassed for the people’s support and cooperation, just as he assured developmental and transformational legislations.
Speaking on behalf of the members of the National Assembly, Hon. Taiwo Oluga, representing Irewole Federal Constuency, assured the governor of their unalloyed support.
According to her, she and her colleagues could not afford to lose the strength of the party, hence the need to rally round the Governor in his efforts to reposition the State.
In his welcome address, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, extolled the sterling qualities of Governor Oyetola and thanked him for exhibiting courage and sagacity to redefine and reposition the State.
Oyebamiji noted that the anniversary was set aside to celebrate the landmark achievements of the administration in the last 24 months.
Welcoming the people, the SSG described the massive turnout of the people to the venue of the event as an indication to the wide acceptance of the government’s policies and programmes.
The State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun, applauded the Governor for making the party and its members proud through his good works.
Famodun who expressed delight in the existing unity among members of the party, noted that the presence of members of the party and loyalists is an indication of the fact that the party is one and united.
He urged members of the party to remain steadfast, unwavering and resolute in giving their topmost support to the party in its quest to reinvigorate democracy and revolutionalise governance.
The party’s Chairman also implored the party’s supporters and loyalists to begin spreading the gospel of the good works of the Governor as part of efforts to register and strengthen the second term bid.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin, lauded Governor Oyetola for his swift response to rehabilitate and fix Ara-Ejigbo road after several years of agitation by the residents of the affected areas.
Oba Oyesosin who described the 24 months of Oyetola’s Administration as the most productive in the history of the State, reassured royal support for the adminstration.
Former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole and former member House of Representatives, Hon. Ayo Omidiran, showered encomiums on the Governor for taking the State to enviable heights.
The leader of the State market women, Iyaloja General, Mrs. Awawu Asindemade, also hailed the Governor for embarking on massive infrastructure development to boost commercial and business activities in the state
The grand finale of the 2nd Anniversary was attended by the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola; Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi; former Osun Deputy Governors, Senator Iyiola Omisore; Titi-Laoye Ponle and Chief Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin; Speaker, Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye; former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Folorunso Adewole, former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade; members of the National and State Assemblies; members of the State Executive Council; Local Government Chairmen; top civil servants and several traditional rulers.
