The students of the Oyo State College Of Education, Lanlate, have protested against alleged outrageous fees being enforced on them.
Muhammed Olaitan, the President, Students’ Union Government, also lamented that they were being attacked by dangerous animals during lectures as a result of the surrounding bush which were left uncut.
The President, in a statement on Monday, said, “Despite charging an outrageous sum of N3,000 cumulatively, the management has refused to issue any form of identification to students, thereby exposing us to harassment and denying us scholarship opportunities.
“In the 21st Century, students are unable to check their results online and print course forms despite paying for this every semester.
“We are required to pay N8,000 in 100 level, and N3,000 at 200 and 300 levels, yet no noticeable development can be seen. The school environment is bushy and unkempt with dangerous animals attacking students during lectures.
“The Dean of Student Affairs who is expected to act as a father takes pleasure in relationships with female students and threatening to withhold students’ results.
“I urge us to remain steadfast and peaceful. Our demand remains the immediate resignation of the Provost and Dean of Student Affairs.”
Attempts made to reach officials of the college were however abortive as of the time of filing this report.
