AKEREDOLU COMMISSIONS NIGERIA POLICE ZONE 17 HEADQUARTERS IN AKURE •Commends Police Collaboration With Amotekun

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has commissioned the headquarters of Zone 17 of the Nigeria Police in Akure, the State Capital on Tuesday, December 29, 2020.

Governor Akeredolu applauded the role of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigeria Police in ensuring the security of lives and property of the people in Ondo and Ekiti states through the establishment of a new zonal command for the area.

While commending the collaborative efforts of the Police with the Amotekun corps, the Governor reiterated that the Amotekun Corps is not out to rival any security agency but to complement their efforts, particularly in the area of manpower.

Governor Akeredolu assured that his administration will continue to support the Police in the state so as to ensure that the lives and the property of the people are better protected.

Earlier, the pioneer Assistant Inspector-General of Police of the Zone, David Folawiyo said the establishment of the Zone is part of the Inspector-General of Police roadmap to serve the states better by bringing police services, particularly its supervision at a higher level closer to the grassroots.

The Police boss said the police will continue in their commitment to the highest standard of honesty and ethical conduct in the State.

He further applauded the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for demonstrating the importance of security matters in the State.

“Operating from this facility will no doubt put the Zone in a position to double its efforts to serve the people of Ondo and Ekiti States better

“Among other things, our responsibilities include to coordinate, supervise and provide guidance to Ondo and Ekiti State Commands, as well as, performing all other police duties as occasion may demand. The Zone is also a place to run to if you believe on reasonable ground that you are not being fairly attended to at any of the State Commands” he added
