A 6-year-old-boy who was playing his favourite game on his mom’s iPad managed to rack up $16000 in-app purchases buying virtual bubbles without his mum’s permission is making the rounds as Apple Inc. has refused to refund the money back to the mum.
It’s quite an interesting story as six-year-old George kept on making purchases to boost his performance to the top-tier level, swiping for every $99.99 to the tune of an additional $2500 worth of add ons to his mom’s credit card.
Unknown to the mum, Jessica Johnson, after seeing alerts worth $16000, thinking it a likely scam, she escalated with her banks who determined in October that they were not so fraudulent after all but in-app purchases from her own Apple account.
At this point, she reached out to Apple but was told the moratorium period of 60 days had passed and therefore would not be eligible for a refund. More so, the Service representative told her she ought to have placed parental control on her device.
Unfortunately, Jessica had not been paid in close to eight months and is now struggling with her mortgage due to the costly mistake of allowing her son to play sonic forces on her iPad.
