As part of preparatory measures to become instruments of change and development in the scoiety, the wife of the Governor of the State of Osun, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, has charged the children of the State to imbibe good manners and make their education a priority.
Kafayat Oyetola, speaking during the 2020 edition of the Children’s Christmas Party at the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation compound, on Tuesday, said the future of the State and the nation rests on the shoulders of today’s children, hence the need to strengthen the foundations of character and education.
The Osun first lady, who expressed thanks to God for keeping the children of the State, said: “I thank Almighty God for his mercies on all of us especially, our children for whom this party is organized today. May God continue to keep and nurture you. I also advise you to imbibe good manners and make your education a priority. We are all looking up to you as the stars and leaders of our society tomorrow.
“As we look forward to the New Year, I urge all of us to be resolute in making the coming year a year of positive greatness for our people. We should be conscious of the presence of Coronavirus and ensure we continue to obey all the safety protocol.
“We should also show love and affection to one another most especially during this challenging period. In line with the spirit of the Christmas season, let us show love and uplift the needy in our society. I congratulate all of us for yet another yuletide period and I pray God to continue to sustain us in health, love and unity”, Kafayat Oyetola stated.
She also commended the media for their support through objective and accurate reporting of the developments across the State.
She continued: “Let me take this opportunity to also commend the media house which has been forthright and objective in their report of the challenges the present administration has faced so far.
“OSBC has been quite remarkable in the discharge of its roles of mass dissemination of development news. Your efforts in propelling unity and peace in this state is commendable. I thank the management and staff for this great feat and I urge you not to relent”, she added.
In an earlier remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, expressed gratitude to God for the State of Osun, stating that Osun has been through so much troubles in 2020 but God has been kind to it.
“This is December 2020. So much has happened this year. This is the year upon which visions and projections were hinged (at least most of us are familiar with the term vision 2020). When the year eventually came, it came with so much uncertainties in the world and in our state.
“But today, we have reasons to celebrate and express gratitude to God, especially that the State of Osun has been blessed with a leader, who in spite of the health emergency, civil disobedience (the looting and wanton destruction) and paucity of funds in the State, has prioritized the welfare and security of lives and properties of citizens”, Egbemode stated.
Also speaking at the event, Professor Olu Aina, the father of the day, greeted Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun, stating that although it was a difficult time to lead in any capacity, he has shown calmness in the face of adversity.
He charged children, teachers and parents to support the administration of Governor Oyetola, so that State of Osun can attain an enviable height among other States in Nigeria.
During his sermon, the Bishop of Osun Central Missionary Diocese, Rt. Reverend James Oluwatoyin Bamidele, lauded Governor Oyetola for his efforts at ensuring peace and unity in the State.
“We especially thank him for the resolution with Oyo State on long-standing LAUTECH issue. It is laudable and we salute the Governor for this feat. His humility is amazing and the atmosphere he has created in the State is such that makes us relate with one another without suspicion or any act of intolerance”, Bamidele stated.
