Senator Tokunbo Abiru representing Lagos East Senatorial District has unveiled three major citizen empowerment and social intervention programmes as part of his electoral promise to the constituents.
The Skill acquisition and Training, Issuance of Scholarship and interest-free credit facility are designed to lift as many locals out of poverty, raise standard of living and ensure self-development and actualization.
Citizen NewsNG could recall that Abiru had in the last few weeks revealed plan to distribute covid-19 Support and Relief package across the wards in the senatorial district.
“The major Beneficiaries of the Interest free loans are the Petty Traders and the vulnerable in the society, it will kick off before March 2021”, Abiru said.
He however stated that Twenty five (25) people from five (5) local government areas and eleven (11) local council development areas would benefit from the scheme. He also assured the residents that the selection exercise will be transparent so that deserving members of the public could benefit from it.
While addressing the gathering, Abiru hinted that a team of People will be assembled and charged with the task of proper registration and documentation of applicants. He however frowned at unproductive use and unauthorized sale of empowerment tools and machinery gifted to the citizenry in the past.
The Banker turned Politician promised to use his wealth of experience and versatility in the corporate world to add value to governance through Qualitative Representation at the Red Chamber.
Citizen NewsNG will keep the public abreast of the Social Intervention Initiative.
