The Commissioner of Transportation in Enugu State and biological brother to the former Deputy Senate President, Chief Mathias Ekweremadu, slumped and died yesterday during a budget defence in the Enugu State House Of Assembly.

He was reportedly a holding a meeting with the House Committee on Transport, led by its chairman, Hillary Ugwu (Enugu East Rural). Midway into the meeting, he complained about not being comfortable sitting close to the AC, but before he changed position, he slumped during and was quickly rushed to Niger Foundation Hospital in Enugu, where he was confirmed dead.

Ekweremadu was a member of the State House of Assembly between 2015-2019, representing Aninri Constituency, which he was appointed as the Chief Whip.
