An Igbo man identified as Nnanna Uchenna who is suspected to be of supplying arms, ammunition and hard drugs to gang bandits in Zamfara state has been arrested.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abutu Yaro, disclosed this while parading him alongside five other suspected criminals before Journalists, Friday, at the Command headquarters in Gusau, the capital city of Zamfara state.
“On the 10th of March following credible intelligence report received by Police divisional office in Shinkafi local government area of the state, Mr. Uchenna and his accomplice one Aminu Mohammed was trailed and arrested by both residents of Shinkafi town after series of complaints by the people of the area that they engaged themselves in supplying drugs, injections, arms and ammunition to bandits who terrorised the area,” he said.
The commissioner further revealed that one Abubakar Mohammed has been apprehended by the police who was suspected to be supplying some illicit drugs to the bandits, and exhibits recovered from him includes large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs which are being used by bandits and other criminal elements.
Yaro said, “the command also arrested one Ibrahim Adamu, suspected gun runner while trying to purchase a rifle On 18th March. He is notoriously known as Gado after a credible information revealed that himself and one Tsoho Dandela all bandits of Kangon Maraca village of Bungudu local government area of state concluded plan to buy an Ak-47 ruffle, and exhibits recovered from him was the sum of N1.O70 million.”
