Hon. [Dr.] Enitan Dolapo Badru, a Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1 has set up a Health Insurance Scheme for the residents.
The Healthcare Support Programme is one of the Constituency projects of Hon. (Dr.) Enitan Dolapo Badru.
According to him, The Initiative was designed to provide free Healthcare Services for Lagos Island Residents, improve the quality of lives and curtail minor illnesses that could lead to avoidable deaths among the Constituents.
Citizen NewsNG gathered that Three hundred and fifty (350) Residents benefited from the Health Insurance Scheme. Health Insurance Access Cards were distributed to the Beneficiaries.
A Representative of a Healthcare Service Provider Company, BettaHealth and Hygeia Health Management Organisation, Mrs. Chisom Precious advised the residents to take full advantage of the Healthcare Programme sponsored by Hon. Enitan Dolapo Badru. She also urged the beneficiaries to shun self-medication as ignorance is not an excuse.
Mrs. Precious enjoined the gathering to eat Balance diet, engage in regular physical exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.
She stated further that the Health Insurance Scheme Subscribers can download the BettaHealth Mobile Application on Google Play store and iOS.
She also released the Customer care contacts of BettaHealth: WhatsApp 09017900000, 09030006011 and 09060001783 for Voice Call Service.
With the Health Insurance Access Cards, the beneficiaries can access the following medical services: Treatment of Minor ailments such as Malaria and Typhoid fevers, Surgeries, Antenatal care, Untra Sound Test/ ECG, Eye and Ear Tests, Dental care, Blood and Sugar Level Tests.
The Deputy Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Mayegun who represented Hon. Badru described the Health Insurance Scheme as laudable and timely.
“Health is Wealth, only a healthy man can engage in daily activities; move from one place to the other. The health insurance scheme is qualitative. I urge Hon. Badru not to relent in his effort”. He has performed credibly well and he should be commended. He understands the needs of the people. He is a very simple, generous and humorous individual”, Hon. Mayegun said during an Interview with Citizen NewsNG.
The Lagos APC Chieftain urged the beneficiaries to live a healthy lifestyle and go for regular check-up.
He however asked the residents to register at the designated centres set up by the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] across the council area. He also charged them to join politics and participate in electioneering process to choose the Leaders of their choice.
Hon. Mayegun also canvassed for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress [APC], Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2023 Presidential Election.
On his part, a former Vice Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government Area, Hon. Wadood Bashorun said the health insurance scheme avails the residents opportunities to access medical care from qualified medics at no service charge.
In a chat with Citizen NewsNG, the Leader of the Lagos Island Local Government Area Legislative Arm, Hon. Hakeem Olaiwola Ajose opined that with the introduction of the scheme by Hon. Badru, the issue of ill-health and outbreak of diseases would be ameliorated in the Constituency.
The Majority Leader, Lagos Island Local Government Area, Hon. Qudus Davies, enjoined the residents to embrace the different health insurance schemes provided by the State and Local Governments and Hon. Enitan Dolapo Badru. He stated further the Heathcare Initiative will lower health-related issues among the residents.
Citizen NewsNG recall that the Federal Lawmaker had organised Citizen Empowerment Programmes and facilitated formal Training and Skills Acquisition for the Constituents, disbursed start-up funds to young Entrepreneurs and Indigent to further reduce unemployment in the premier local government area.
Hon. Badru has also constructed Blocks of Classrooms and road networks, rekindled hope of the Vulnerable on Lagos Island Local Government Area.
A Beneficiary and Resident of Isale-Eko area, Mr. Maliq Abdulraheem said the healthcare Support project is highly commendable. He described Hon. Badru as a Leader with a good heart.
“He is a Kind Man and a Cheerful giver that want the best for his people; good health for the young and Old. I pray that he is re-elected”, Mr. Abdulraheem said.
Another Beneficiary, Mrs. Rukayat Yusuf from Ward C1 stated that the Federal Lawmaker has embarked on social Intervention programmes and lifted a large number of the residents.
“He (Hon. Badru) is a caring Father to all; irrespective of an individual’s religion, ethnicity or party affiliation. He is a Problem-Solver; A Man of the People”, Mrs. Yusuf eulogized.
She however reiterated her support for Hon. Badru and urged him to seek re-election as a member of the Federal House of Representatives.
