The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) on Sunday recovered a waste truck.
“The Lagos State Emergency Service is undergoing a recovery operation to remove a PSP Truck that plunged into the water on 3rd Mainland Bridge (inward Oworo) around the UNILAG Axis,” Jubril Gawat, media aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, tweeted earlier during the recovering.
“Traffic has been diverted, for now. Going towards Oworo from Island, Pls divert to Adekunle.”
“Successfully Recovered by LASEMA,” he tweeted later. “Vehicle placed successfully on the Flatbed Vehicle …. Operation Completed.”
Earlier, LASEMA had said there would be a lane closure on the Third Mainland Bridge for what it tagged “Operation Shark”.“LASEMA will commence the retrieval of a PSP TRUCK that plunged into the Lagos Lagoon inward Iyana-Oworo on Tuesday, TODAY Sunday 23rd October at 2 pm,” the permanent secretary of LASEMA, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said in a statement.
“The Agency has concluded arrangements for the retrieval using the Agency’s heavy-duty equipment. The general public is to note that partial lane closure will be in place from 2 pm until the operation is concluded on the Island-bound side of THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE.
“Motorists are urged to use alternative routes where possible. All stakeholders will be on standby to ensure the process runs smoothly and safely including LASTMA for traffic control.”
