Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced salary increments for civil servants in the State.
Sanwo-Olu announced this during his working visit to the State Secretariat in Alausa on Tuesday where he met and interacted with workers.
The Governor also announced the approval of personalised vehicles for directors in the ministries with the first 100 to be disbursed by month end.
He said the planned salary raise was in view of the inflation in the country, adding that it was being reviewed to work out the modalities.
He said: “We will review salaries to show we can take care of our public servants. We won’t wait for the Federal Government because we are a proactive government. You know I always say that my greatest assets are my people, and I need to demonstrate that. Nothing is too much for us because you are indeed big, you are the ones who make it a lot easier and you deserve the best.”
Sanwo-Olu also announced a 25 percent increase in core establishment duty allowance and the approval of personalised vehicles for directors.
One hundred will be disbursed before month end in the first phase. Other goodies announced by the Governor were the approval of a certain percentage of the numerous government housing schemes for public servants, with a 40 percent rebate on price.
The Governor also said more staff buses will be procured and more routes added to the existing ones to ease the movement of workers to and fro work while promising that the various worker unions and pensioners will continue to get their check-off dues as and when due.
He said: “As a government, nothing is too much for us to do for you because you work very hard to make this public service worthwhile. Indeed, you make it a lot easier. We have started on improving our working environment and we will not stop.
“So, on behalf my cabinet members thank you again and again for being the best.”
