Residents and All Progressives Congress (APC) members on Lagos Island have trooped to the streets to celebrate following the declaration of Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the Winner of the Federal House of Representatives election on Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Prof. Wahab Okunowo declared Dr. Badru as the duly elected contestant at the SURA INEC Office.
He said: “That Badru Enitan Akanni Dolapo of the All Progressives Congress, APC , having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared Winner and is Returned Elected”.
Dr. Badru, a current member of the National Assembly polled 14,783 Votes to defeat other Candidates.
The Federal Lawmaker voted at Isale-Eko Grammar School, Polling Unit 001, Ward C2, Isale-Eko,Lagos.
The People’s Democratic Party Candidate, Ijaola Olawale Nurudeen scored 1294 to come second, while Labour Party’s Dosunmu Oluwatobi Sodipe had 528 Votes, ADC 121, NNPP 111, YPP 60, APP 17, SDP 9, NRM 5 and MAP scored 2 Votes.
An excited resident, Olatunde Joseph said: “Hon. Badru truly deserves the victory; this is because he has performed excellently as Federal House of Representatives Member and we cannot afford to experiment with a Candidate without track record”.
Another Local, Olaniyi Oyeniyi from Polling Unit 001, Ward B2, Aroloya community expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the National Assembly election.
Oyeniyi said that : “Dr. Badru’s Victory is a collective Reward for his Outstanding Performance across the nooks and crannies of Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1”.
Speaking with Journalists, Dr. Badru thanked the residents for their support during and after the election.
Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru however reiterated his commitment to Responsive and Qualitative Representation. He also vowed to complement on his Achievements.
