The recent Local Government re-run election in Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State on January 19, 2013 that was characterised by violence has come and gone but echoes of what transpired in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State is still reverberating with the killing in Auchi of a young man, Abubakar Abudu, a member of the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by thugs suspected to be sent by some Bigwigs of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The accusation resulted in a free for all fight at the Auchi Public Field Polling Centre and there was commotion and sporadic gunshots rented the air, while dangerous weapons and other missiles were flying in the air. People at the polling centre ran for their lives at the end of the melee, about four persons were confirmed dead. While several others were injured. The four persons that died were members of the APC, their supporters accused the PDP members for the killings.
They fingered two PDP, Abudu Abubakar and Braimah John, both PDP Youth Leaders in Auchi of the killings at the polling centre. They also accused them of been the instigators of the violence.
Both of them ran away for fear of been killed by APC supporters. APC supporters mounted the home of Abudu Abubakar in Auchi, three weeks after unsuccessful manhunt for him and John. They brutally killed him and also burnt down the house.
The death of Abudu Abubakar according to a family source made Braimah John escaped to Maiduguri, Bornu State to stay with his father.
Braimah Isah. Things were gradually getting back to normal for John in Benue state, until Islamic Militants killed his father in a bomb blast on March 9, 2013. The death of his father and threats to his life by Political thugs made Braimah John to run for his life.
