The Head of Media and Publicity of the Presidential Inauguration Committee, Bayo Onanuga, has disclosed that
President-elect Bola Tinubu is expected to land in the country today, Monday.
Mr Tinubu, who has been away in France since March 21, will be returning to the country 35 days before his inauguration.
Confirming his return to Nigeria on Monday, Mr Onanuga, said Mr Tinubu would return after weeks of well deserved vacation.
“President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns to Abuja today after weeks of a well deserved vacation in France. E kaabo! Se dada le de!,” he said in a terse statement.
In March the Tinubu Media Office said that the trip was meant for him to take a rest and plan ahead of his inauguration.
It said the president-elect decided to take a break after the hectic campaign and election season to rest in Paris and London, preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah [Lesser Hajj] and the Ramadan Fasting,” the statement had noted.
The statement also added that while away, the president-elect would also use the opportunity to plan his transition programme.
“He has directed all the senior aides and campaign staff to also go and observe a short rest. He is expected back in the country soon.
“We enjoin the media to stop publishing rumours and unsubstantiated claims and to always seek clarifications from our office,” his media office reportedly said.
“On his return to the country, the president-elect is expected to hit the ground running to address certain issues that would ensure effective take-off of his government on May 29,” the statement added.
