High ranking Federal Legislator, Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru greets the Nigerian Work Force as the World marks International Workers’ Day.
The Federal Lawmaker representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1 in
a Press Statement commended the Contribution of the Nigerian Workers to the Socioeconomic Development of the country.
Dr. Badru stated that the collective effort of the Nigerian Civil Service and Informal Sector is a catalyst for a more Prosperous Nigeria.
“As the Chairman, House Committee on Industry, I reiterate my commitment to sponsor Workers-friendly Bills and protect your (Workers’) interests at all times”, Dr. Badru vowed.
He emphasized that Hardwork is Dignifying and rewarding. He also said that a Productive workforce is the Pride of a Nation.
Continuing, Dr. Badru urged the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to be more productive and support the Federal Government, the incoming administration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and State Governments.
“The NLC is a partner in progress: A driving force for Nigerian economy”, He noted.
The International Workers’ Day is the day that commemorates the struggles and gains made by Workers and the Labour movement. It is celebrated on May 1.
In 1889, an International Federation Of Socialist groups and Trade Unions designated May 1 as a day in support of workers, in commemoration of the Haymarket Riot in Chicago (1886). Five years later, United States of America President, Grover Cleveland, uneasy with the socialist origins of Workers’ Day, signed legislation to mark Labour Day.
