President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday met behind closed doors with the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Wike and Makinde are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and belong to the party’s aggrieved group of governors, the G-5, that worked against their party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the last general elections.
It is widely believed that the Wike-led PDP G-5 group worked for the victory of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in their various states during the February 25, 2023 presidential election.
Wike, who is having a running battle with the leadership of the PDP, is believed to be positioning himself for a ministerial position under the Tinubu government and may be on his way out of the PDP soon.
