Almost a month after the sudden demise of fast-rising Afrobeats singer, Mohbad, his father Joseph Aloba has opened up on reasons for his hasty burial.
Mohbad whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba died on Tuesday, September 12, and his cause of death is yet to be revealed.
His father has been facing constant backlash for burying the singer a day after his death and sealing his cemetery without an autopsy.
In a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, Joseph Aloba said: “When my son died, we took his corpse to police station to get a police report, but wasn’t issued. We took the corpse to mortuary but was rejected. I couldn’t be watching him in the house.I had to bury him. Nigerians should forgive me if I offended them. Nobody loves him like me.
“I have never seen Sam Larry before in my life. When I visited Naira marley after the NDLEA issue, Mohbad was eating, and Naira picked the same spoon he was using and was eating with him.
This really touched me that he loved him so much, but my son told me Naira and the people around him does not love him, that he knows them well.
Then I went to Naira’s room to prostrate and beg him to forgive my son; whatever he might have done, I didn’t know he was recording me. Even though my son insisted that he was the one living there and Naira is ev!l, but I did not believe him.
Another time, I was with my son; after praying for him, he told me he was going out. He went out with three people, 30 mins later, one of them ran back home to tell me that they were be@ting my son.
It was like three streets away, before I got there, everything had stopped. Then Mohbad said I should look at how they treated him, I told him to allow me cry out but he refused.
I saw Bella that day, and they reported the issue to a lawyer but because those people are powerful, nothing was done.. After then, anywhere my son goes to perform its always with fear.
He was beaten again during his video shoot with Zlatan. I told him to come see me so we can visit the Oba and ask for assistance.. When he was coming, he bought rice and other foodstuffs that he shared in the Ikorodu neighbourhood, and his fans were all around him. The crowd was too much that we couldn’t see the Oba that day again. I need justice for him. As a pastor, I can’t fight this traditionally because of my religion. If they want to do the DNA, they should go ahead.”

Impeachment: Aiyedatiwa Didn’t Withdraw Suit Against House of Assembly, Not Ready For Reconciliation – Group
The Ondo Masses Solidarity Movement (MSM) has revealed that the embattled deputy governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, did not withdraw the lawsuit he filed against his impeachment by the Ondo State House of Assembly.
A national daily had reported that Aiyedatiwa’s lawyer, Mr. Ebun-olu Adegboruwa (SAN), informed the court that the deputy governor wished to withdraw the suit following the intervention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the matter.
However, the MSM, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Chief Ogunyemi Jeremiah, asserted that the story was planted in the newspaper to delay the court case and mislead the public about a reconciliation effort.
“In light of the ongoing developments in the impeachment process of Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, we find it necessary to address the spread of fake news as published in today’s newspaper.
“We urge the public to disregard the false news claiming that Aiyedatiwa has withdrawn his lawsuit against his impeachment. This story, as published, was the work of individuals attempting to delay the case and extend the impeachment process.
“In fact, if anything, the deputy governor has shown that he is not ready for reconciliation. His consistent reference to the reconciliation committee appears to be an act of deception and pretense. It is disappointing that the deputy governor professes reconciliation while actively pursuing legal actions.
“Just moments ago, the deputy governor appealed the ruling of the Akure High Court that declined jurisdiction on the suit challenging his impeachment. This contradicts Aiyedatiwa’s reconciliation stance. One cannot advocate for reconciliation while simultaneously initiating court proceedings.
“As stakeholders in Ondo State, we have lost confidence in the deputy governor’s ability to continue holding public office. Resorting to legal measures to halt impeachment proceedings, especially when facing serious allegations related to taxpayers’ money without providing any response, is a disservice to the people of the state” the group said.
