A yet to be identified person has been killed by suspected gunmen, after attacking a hotel in Ezzamgbo, Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi state.
The gunmen also burnt several vehicles, in the incident that occurred on Sunday, March 10, 2024.
The attack comes barely 48 hours after gunmen attacked a checkpoint in Abakaliki killing four policemen and two civilians.
It was gathered that the hotel is owned by the council’s chairman, Ikechukwu Odono.
The Nations reports that Ohaukwu has been terrorised by assailants in the last few months, killing and burning properties.
A few weeks ago, gunmen reportedly killed a POS operator in the area and carted away his cash, machine and cell phone.
Also, the hoodlums killed a female security vigilante member of Ngbo local vigilante in the local government early last month.
According to the Police spokesperson Ebonyi State, Joshua Ukandu, several vehicles were set ablaze in the hotel by the gunmen during the attack.
He disclosed that the police had swung into action, to unravel those behind the attack.
