The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic diversion plan to facilitate the reconstruction of the damaged pedestrian bridge at Estate Gate, Ketu Alapere, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the reconstruction work will kick off with a two-day dismantling and evacuation of the damaged pedestrian bridge, starting from 2:00 p.m. on March 9 to March 10.
Osiyemi outlined alternative routes for motorists during the dismantling process, stating that: “Traffic to Anthony/Oshodi from Motorway/7up axis will be diverted to Ojota/Odo-Alaro down to Anthony/Oshodi to connect other areas.”
He further explained, “Traffic inward Iyana Oworo/Charlie boy/Oshodi/Lagos Island from Motorway/7up axis will be diverted to Samson Ayorinde Street to connect Ogudu road and link Adebare Street to access other desired destinations.”
Additionally, motorists heading to Ketu/Ikorodu-Lagos Road from the 3rd Mainland Bridge will utilise the slip road at Estate Gate Alapere to connect Ajiboye Street inwards Demurin Street down to Ketu to connect Ikorodu-Lagos Road.
The Commissioner assured that only the Alapere to Lagos Island section would be affected by the traffic diversion and urged motorists to exercise patience during the dismantling and evacuation process, emphasising that it’s part of the preparation for reconstructing a new pedestrian bridge.
