The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has officially declared that Julius Abure no longer holds the position of National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
This proclamation was made by the NLC Political Commission in a statement released on Friday.
According to the Secretary of the NLC Political Commission, Comrade Chris Uyot, “Following this week’s successful takeover of Labour Party Secretariats nationwide by the Nigeria Labour Congress who are the real owners of the party, Mr. Julius Abure’s silhouette continues to hide from the long arms of the law over various allegations and charges bordering on criminality.”
Uyot further emphasised that Abure’s claims were baseless and defamatory, stating, “The reclaiming of Labour Party Secretariats across the country was witnessed by many policemen, officers from the State Security Service, and many journalists including television crews.”
He continued, “For Abure to concoct such daylight falsehood clearly proves to all Nigerians that he carries moral leprosy and must be avoided at all costs.”
The NLC intends to take legal action against Abure for defamation and other alleged offences. Meanwhile, efforts to reposition the Labour Party as a vehicle for socio-economic emancipation continue unabated.
Furthermore, Uyot urged Abure to face the consequences of his actions and demonstrate accountability for his leadership.
He emphasised the need for transparency and ethical conduct, urging party members to uphold the values of integrity and service to the Nigerian people.
“The Labour Party must be thoroughly cleansed and repositioned as the vehicle for the socio-economic emancipation of all Nigerian workers and people,” Uyot said.
