MohBad, Son And Wife
The adjournment was sequel to the settlement talks between the Aloba family and Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi.
The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has adjourned proceedings on the DNA test application filed to determine the paternity of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad’s son, Liam.
The adjournment was sequel to the settlement talks between the Aloba family and Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi.
The Nation reports that Aloba’s family’s legal representative, Monisola Odumosu, said that the court during its session on July 9, directed both parties to pursue alternative dispute resolution.
However, despite efforts, the negotiations did not reach an agreement and Odumosu attributed the failure of the negotiations to “external factors.”
Odumosu said, “Emmanuel Oroko of Hillceetee Partners, representing Joseph Aloba, informed the court that despite sincere efforts, the settlement talks faltered due to external factors. M.K.O Orire Esq., representing the respondent, confirmed this breakdown.”
The Magistrate, Mrs. A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu, adjourned the case to an undisclosed date to allow for the hearing of all pending applications related to the DNA test.
Olagbegi-Adelabu also advised the parties to continue exploring settlement options before the next hearing.
Recall that the Aloba family had requested a DNA test of Mohbad’s son after paternity issues concerning the child became contentious on social media.
They emphasised the need for the test due to the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi has cried out several times over bullying she has received from social media and a series of threats to her life and that of her son following her insistence on Mohbad’s father to get proper court order before she could release the DNA test.
Wunmi has lamented severally that many people from Nigeria and outside Nigeria have threatened to kill her and her son constantly and repeatedly.
However, Odumosu said that no official spokesperson had been designated by the family and disavowed any statements made without authorisation from its legal team.
