The Suspects
The Delta State Police Command has arrested 34 suspected kidnappers and rescued three victims during a special operation in the Ughelli area.
The operation which was led by ASP Julius Robinson, was part of the CP Special Assignment Team (CSP SAT), deployed by Commissioner of Police Olufemi Abaniwonda.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on X.com.
Edafe noted that the operation, which targeted criminal activities in Ughelli and its surrounding areas, has brought a sense of security back to the region.
The statement read, “This is the CP special assignment team (CSP SAT) deployed to Ughelli by CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, headed by ASP Julius Robinson. They have successfully brought calm to Ughelli and its environs.”
He further highlighted the results of the operation, stating, “Their achievements since deployment include the recovery of seven AK-47 rifles, one AK-49 rifle, one G-3 rifle, six pump action guns, 16 Beretta pistols, 88 rounds of ammunition, the rescue of three kidnapped victims, the recovery of N5,500,000 in ransom, and the arrest of 34 suspected kidnappers.”
Edafe commended the success of the operation, saying that residents in Ughelli and neighboring areas like Warri, Sapele, and Oghara can now “sleep with their two eyes closed.”
