The Suspect, Auwal Danladi Sankara
Operatives of Hisbah in Kano have arrested the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, over alleged adultery with a married woman.
The suspect met his waterloo after the woman’s husband reported to the Hisbah that he was suspecting the commissioner of having an affair with his wife.
A source at Hisbah who preferred not to be mentioned told an Online News Platform that the suspect is still being detained at Hisbah headquarters in Kano.
The complainant, according to the source, had two children with the woman in question.
The source said on receiving the report, the Hisbah dispatched its surveillance team to trail the suspects in order to ascertain the truth of the complaint.
“It took us a bit long trailing the movements of the suspects until yesterday (Thursday) in the night, around 10:00pm, when we spotted the suspect and the woman entering an uncompleted building belonging to him.
“When we approached the building, we knocked at the gate, which was manned by a security guard. As we were knocking, the suspect himself came to find out who were at the gate.
“When he opened the gate… we were together with her husband (the complaint) and he saw her inside a car,” the source narrated.
The source added that on seeing her husband with Hisbah personnel, she became frightened and attempted to escape.
According to the source, “after she confirmed that she was caught red-handed, the woman drove speedily towards the gate and rammed the car into gate.
“As she successfully forced the car out of the gate, she surrendered after seeing Hisbah vehicles blocking the road.
“When we took them to Hisbah headquarters, the commissioner confessed to committing adultery with her three times.”
The source added that the duo is currently cooling their feet at Hisbah headquarters and would be charged to court after investigation.
When contacted for comment, the deputy commander general of Hisbah, Mujahid Aminuddeen, did not answer our reporter’s telephone call nor reply to a text message seeking response on the matter.
