The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome killing of Baale Ogunleye Olaegbe, the traditional ruler of Oke-Oha Village in Imeko Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State by suspected herdsmen.
The 49-year-old traditional chief was allegedly attacked on his farm on Wednesday.
His body was discovered around noon by some villagers who found him with multiple gunshot wounds lying in a pool of his own blood; but signs however, showed he was dragged from his farm and abandoned in a nearby bush.
According to residents, they claimed that herdsmen were responsible for the killing of the Baale as well as other violent attacks happening in the area.
Speaking on the incident, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed in a statement that analysis of the crime scene showed that Baale Olaegbe, was shot in the chest region while working on his farm by unknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen before his body was dragged and then abandoned in a nearby bush.

Her statement read, “A community member alerted the Imeko Police Division about the incident. Ogunleye Olaegbe, aged 49, the Baale of C.A.C. Oke-Oha Village, was attacked by unidentified gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen while working on his farm,”
“Upon receiving the report, policemen and other security personnel proceeded to the crime scene. On arrival, it was discovered that during the attack, he had been dragged from his farm into a nearby bush, where he was shot in the chest, resulting in his death,”
She also added that the deceased has been deposited at the Ayetoro General Hospital morgue for an autopsy and that the command was committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
“A preliminary investigation has commenced, and efforts are in top gear to apprehend the perpetrators. The area is under close surveillance to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” Odutola added.
