Amine explosion in Bassa, Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State, has resulted in the death of a farmer.
The victim, identified as Isyaku Gambo, is believed to have stepped on an explosive while transporting farm produce on a motorcycle.
The device is suspected to have been planted on the road between Unguwan-Usman village and Bassa, and the blast shattered the victim’s body.
“The incident happened today (Saturday), around 3pm, when the victim was returning home from the farm where he had gone to bring some farm produce home.
“This is the first time we are experiencing this and it is believed that the explosive device was planted by terrorists,” a source told Daily Trust.
Attempts to get Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, for comments were unsuccessful.
