A former Permanent Secretary in the Niger State Civil Service, Architect Adamu Jagaba has been stabbed to death by 18-year-old Fatiyah Abdulhakeem, his car painter, at his block industry along Eastern Bypass, Minna.
The incident occurred on Saturday 7th December 2024.
According to the police in a statement, Abdulhakeem trespassed into Jagaba’s business premises, attacked him with multiple stabs to the head and neck, and fled the scene with the victim’s Toyota Camry vehicle (Reg. No. MNA 61 AE).
Jagaba was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead.
The police were notified of the incident at around 3 pm, and officers quickly began investigating the homicide, the statement added.
Later that evening, at approximately 7 pm, the police’s Crack Squad intercepted the stolen vehicle along Bosso Estate Road, Minna.
Abdulhakeem was apprehended, and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
“I visited him to discuss changing the vehicle bumper. Afterward, I deliberately stabbed him several times with a knife on the head and neck, and hit him multiple times with a stapler in his office,” Abdulhakeem admitted.
The suspect also revealed that he had conspired with some of Jagaba’s workers, who provided him with information to help carry out the attack.
He further confessed that he worked with other gang members, naming them for investigation.
The police have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects. “We are determined to bring all those involved in this heinous crime to justice,” said the Niger State Police Command.
Abdulhakeem will be charged to court once the investigation is completed.
The statement added, “On 7th December, 2024 at about 3pm, a report of an incident of culpable homicide was made at Tudun-Wada Div, that at about 11.30am, a yet-to-be-identified person(s) trespassed to a block industry located along Eastern Bye-pass, Minna attacked and stabbed one Adamu Jagaba on the head and made away with his vehicle.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he gave up the ghost and was confirmed dead. The police operatives of the Div visited the scene and commenced investigation into the unfortunate incident.”
