In a grand ceremony rich in cultural tradition, High Chief Dr. Ambassador Obani Oluwabiyi Anthony Boyede (Greenlyte) was installed as the Aare Mayegun of Igando land in the expansive Alimosho community, the largest local government area in Lagos State, by Oba Lasisi Gbadebo Gbadamosi, the Onigando of Igando land.
The chieftaincy event, held at the monarch’s palace, was attended by family, friends, chiefs, and other dignitaries. It featured vibrant displays of cultural heritage, including traditional dances and Yoruba ceremonies, prayers, and rites.
During the ceremony, Oba Gbadamosi expressed his deep appreciation for Chief Boyede’s contributions to the Awori kingdom, Lagos State, and the nation. He commended Boyede not only as a distinguished High Chief and cultural ambassador but also for his significant efforts in engaging youths and students through various artistic organizations.
“I am delighted to install you as the Aare Mayegun of Igando land today due to your exemplary contributions to community development through the arts. Many youths and the wider community have benefited from your efforts,” Kabiyesi remarked.
As a celebrated performance theatre artist, High Chief Boyede has earned recognition both locally and internationally. In his response, he noted that, despite holding several chieftaincy titles, this latest honour from Oba Onigando holds a special place in his heart, coming from his immediate community.
“I have shared Nigerian and African cultural heritage in over 20 countries, receiving accolades in numerous forums, including the United States. However, this recognition from my community is particularly meaningful,” he stated.
“This honour is more than a personal milestone—it is a call to greater responsibility. As Aare Mayegun, I am committed to fostering peace, strengthening our cultural identity, and ensuring Igando Land’s legacy is a source of pride for future generations.
The title of Aare Mayegun, a highly respected position in Yoruba culture, represents patience, conflict resolution, and unwavering commitment to harmony. It reflects Chief Obani Greenlyte’s lifelong dedication to promoting peace and unity.

Chief Obani’s elevation to Aare Mayegun underscores his profound connection to Yoruba heritage, and his impactful contributions to cultural enrichment remain A Testament to Leadership and cultural advocacy.
High Chief Boyede is the founder of the Green Kreative Star Academy (GKSA), Theatre Centrik, DUDU TV, University of Kulture, and the Alimosho Arts Community Initiatives (AACI). Through these platforms, he promotes arts, culture, and education in Nigeria.
“This journey of cultural promotion spans decades, and I am grateful for the support of my vision, family, and team. Our mission is to elevate Nigerian and African cultures to a global stage. Indeed, culture is life and a catalyst for peace, morals, entertainment, and economic growth. The transformative power of the arts is incredible, and I am proud to champion this cause.”
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of continued efforts in promoting arts, culture, and education, expressing gratitude for the support from sponsors and patrons.
Dignitaries and friends of the newly installed chief praised the honour bestowed upon High Chief Boyede. Comrade Israel Bolaji, popularly called Bashorun, a friend of the new chief said it was an honour truly deserved.
Bolaji, a communications professional,
media entrepreneur, writer and advocate for youth, arts, and culture, spoke on behalf of others, affirming that the recognition is a significant motivator for further community development.
