To bridge the gap in Computer Knowledge Acquisition in an emerging digital world, the Leader of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Hon. Olakunle Williams has organised Basic Computer Training for over One Hundred(100) Students and Youths across Lafiaji Community, Lagos.
The 4-Week Skill Acquisition Programme featured introduction to Computer Appreciation, Hardware and Software
components, Typesetting, Practical and Theory Sessions.
According to Hon. Williams, the Digital Literacy Initiative became necessarily to prepare the Youngsters for Computer application-related tasks in their academics and general usage.
‘The Programme is part of my electoral promises to the Constituents. I will continue to inspire and impact knowledge into the younger generation”, the Council Legislator said.
“I feel fulfilled to organise the computer training for the Beneficiaries”, He said.
Hon. Williams hinted that the Computer Appreciation course is a Pilot Scheme.
He stated further that in the next phase of the Training, the Students would undergo courses such as Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publishing and Coding to
scale-up their Computer-Digital knowledge.
Upon the completion of the Computer Literary Training on Saturday 28 December, 2024, the Council Leader and his Committee on Education presented Certificates of Training to the Students at the JOLAD CBT Training Centre, Pike Street, Lafiaji Community, Lagos Island, Lagos.
Hon. Williams tasked the graduants to make optimal use of the knowledge acquired and develop their digital skills.
He also urged them to be good Ambassadors of the Island, transfer knowledge and cross fertilization of creative ideas among themselves.
He thanked the Organising Committee of the programme and
the Host Institute, JOLAD CBT Centre for their collaboration.
Speaking onbehalf of the Graduants, Miss Titilayo Oluwa expressed appreciation to Hon. Williams.She said the Programme was impactive. Miss Oluwa however urged the Legislator to continue the Education initiative as it will Upskill many other students and Youths across Lagos Island.
