Social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has provided an update on the alleged N180 million theft from his NGO’s account.

According to VDM in an update shared on Instagram on Sunday, N78 million out of the stolen funds has been recovered.

VDM initially reported the incident on Instagram, claiming that his account had been hacked and N180 million was missing.

Otse, who runs a popular non-governmental organisation, revealed the breach on Friday via his Instagram account, claiming that a suspect had already been apprehended in connection with the crime.

According to Otse, the hacked account was placed on PND (Payment Network Disconnection), and while N160 million was diverted to an undisclosed account, the balance of N20 million remained in the compromised account.

This alleged security breach came shortly after Otse launched the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative in October, which raised over N35 million in donations within hours.

Not long after, he received a generous N100 million contribution from renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy.

The allegations sparked skepticism among the public, with many questioning the credibility of his claims.

However, in an Instagram post on Sunday, VDM expressed gratitude for the progress made in the investigation and shared details about the ongoing efforts to recover the remaining stolen funds.

He claimed that the suspect involved in the theft revealed that an accomplice had fled to Ghana. He expressed hope to pursue the matter further in Ghana.

He said, “Thanks to the people who called to check up on me. I also want to thank God for the process so far: we have been able to recover N78 million, even though the suspect pointed out that the person he did it with has run to Ghana.

“So hopefully, we would be going to Ghana very soon.”
