Over one million Nigerians across the country will benefit from the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) 2025 National Food Intervention Project, which was officially launched on Thursday. The initiative, valued at N16 billion, aims to provide 10kg bags of rice to vulnerable Nigerians in all 774 local government areas.
Aliko Dangote’s Commitment to Fighting Hunger
Speaking at the launch event in Kano, Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, reiterated his dedication to alleviating hunger and poverty in Nigeria. He was represented by his daughter, Marya Aliko Dangote, who emphasized that the food distribution aligns with the core values of the company and foundation.
“This annual initiative, which embodies compassion, solidarity, and shared responsibility, is part of our response to the current economic challenges facing our nation. It reflects our commitment to supporting our communities in line with our core values,” she stated.
Dangote further revealed that the distribution would begin in Kano State before extending to other states, ensuring that food reaches the most vulnerable individuals in every local government area.
Strategic Collaboration for Efficient Distribution
The Foundation is collaborating with state governments to ensure a smooth and transparent distribution process. According to Dangote, food is a basic human necessity, and the Aliko Dangote Foundation has prioritized food security programs to address hunger in Nigeria.
“We are working closely with state governments to make sure that food reaches the people who need it most. I encourage other industrialists and businesses to support similar initiatives that put food on the tables of vulnerable Nigerians.”
Kano State Governor Praises the Initiative
The Governor of Kano State, Abba K. Yusuf, represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gworzo, commended Dangote for his unwavering commitment to tackling poverty and hunger in Nigeria. He disclosed that 120,000 bags of 10kg rice would be distributed across Kano’s 44 local government areas.
