The Federal Government has announced the closure of Independence Bridge (Marina bound) from April 1 until the end of May to facilitate essential maintenance and rehabilitation works.
The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, urging motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and make use of alternative routes during the period.
Kesha emphasized that the rehabilitation of the bridge is crucial for ensuring its structural integrity and long-term durability. She acknowledged the inconvenience the closure might cause and appealed for public patience and cooperation.
“We sincerely apologize for any disruptions this may bring to road users. However, these maintenance works are necessary to ensure the safety of all commuters,” Kesha stated.
With this development, Lagos motorists are advised to explore alternative routes and adjust their travel schedules to mitigate potential delays.
Lagos Reporters will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
