The Kogi State Police Command has launched a tactical operation to rescue passengers abducted from an 18-seater bus along the Obajana-Kabba highway.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, additional operational assets have been deployed for bush-combing operations to deny criminals safe havens in the area.
The deployment follows a visit to the scene by the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 8, AIG Abubakar Zubairu, and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye. The AIG also engaged Divisional Police Officers and other key stakeholders to strategize on proactive crime prevention measures.
Reassuring residents, CP Dantawaye emphasized the Command’s commitment to working with security agencies and community stakeholders to secure the release of the abducted passengers. He also directed Divisional Police Officers to intensify crime prevention patrols and intelligence-driven operations to enhance safety along the state’s highways.
The Commissioner acknowledged the importance of community-led security efforts and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by sharing intelligence. While admitting manpower challenges, he assured that ongoing training and collaboration efforts would strengthen security operations in the state.
