Veteran Fuji musician, Alhaji Kollington Ayinla, has reaffirmed his seniority in the Fuji music industry over King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, amid a growing rift between the two music legends.
Speaking in an interview with Agbaletu TV, Kollington reacted strongly to K1’s recent accusation that he shunned the funeral of his mother and offered “flimsy excuses.”
Kollington explained that he made repeated efforts to reach K1 during the mourning period but received no response. “When Wasiu Ayinde’s mum died, I called him severally. He didn’t pick up, nor did he return the calls. Even on New Year’s Day, I called, and he didn’t pick up. I was like, what’s wrong with this boy? So, I let him be,” he said.
The Fuji icon dismissed the idea that K1 was too busy to respond, suggesting that the recent honorific title bestowed upon him may have fueled his attitude. “If it is because he was crowned the ‘Olori Omo Oba’, that position is for his family at Ijebu, not for me. Does he want to become God?” Kollington stated.
Firmly reasserting his leadership in the Fuji music hierarchy, Kollington declared: “I am the leader of all the Fuji singers. He can never be the leader while I am still alive. For me to have survived the sickness that happened to me recently, it is only God that can kpai me.”
The clash between these two Fuji heavyweights has reignited debate within the Fuji music community about legacy, respect, and the future leadership of the genre.
