Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is currently holding a closed-door meeting with striking staff of the Nigeria Meteorology Agency (NiMet) in Abuja to address the ongoing industrial action.
The strike, which began at midnight on Tuesday over unmet welfare demands, has severely impacted flight operations. While airlines like XEJET, Aero Contractors, and Ibom Air managed to operate, Air Peace suspended all flights due to the lack of critical weather reports from NiMet.
Passengers faced widespread disruptions on Thursday, with many stranded at Lagos airport terminals. The Director of Public Affairs at NCAA, Michael Achimugu, confirmed that Keyamo is meeting with union leaders and aviation stakeholders to find a resolution.
