Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South) has criticized President Bola Tinubu for what he described as skewed federal appointments that favor a particular ethnic group, in breach of the Federal Character principle.
Speaking on Arise News, Ndume said the list of political appointees circulating online is non-inclusive and contradicts the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The lawmaker stressed that while professional roles require specific qualifications, political appointments must reflect national diversity, as stipulated in Section 14(3) of the Constitution.
Ndume, a longtime ally of Tinubu, insisted his criticism is not personal but a constitutional duty to ensure fairness and unity.
“Even as someone close to the President, I must speak the truth. These imbalances, if unchecked, could backfire,” he warned.
