Civil society groups and concerned Nigerians, led by the Take-It-Back Movement, have taken to the streets of Lagos in a powerful demonstration against worsening national conditions and government inaction.
The ongoing nationwide protest, which kicked off early Monday morning, saw large groups of protesters converge on strategic locations across Lagos, joining counterparts in other states to voice deep frustrations over the state of the nation.
Carrying placards with inscriptions such as “We Deserve Better”, “End Hunger Now”, and “Fix the Economy”, the demonstrators are calling attention to pressing national issues including inflation, unemployment, poor governance, insecurity, and lack of social infrastructure.
Organizers of the protest say the mass action is a nonviolent call for accountability and urgent reform. “We can no longer sit and watch while millions suffer in silence,” said a spokesperson for the Take-It-Back Movement. “This protest is about survival, dignity, and demanding a country that works for all.”
Other civil society organizations, student unions, and community leaders have also joined the protest, demanding a concrete response from federal and state authorities.
While the protest remains peaceful, security operatives have been stationed around key areas to monitor the situation and ensure order.
