
Lagos State lost N19.52 billion in property and 19 lives to 1,952 fire incidents between 2024 and 2025, Commissioner Olugbenga Oyerinde revealed.
Assets worth N117.12 billion were saved, 450 people rescued, and 578 false alarms recorded.
Over 7,800 facilities were inspected, with 7,039 safety certificates issued. Despite progress, Oyerinde cited rising prank calls, attacks on firefighters, and no new recruitment in 2024.
