President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the commissioning of the completed 30-kilometre stretch of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, marking a major milestone in one of Nigeria’s most ambitious infrastructure projects.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, and will take place at KM 8, along the Jakande Estate axis of Lagos State.
The commissioning ceremony will be led by the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who received the president’s go-ahead to proceed with the event. This section, known as Phase I, Section I of the highway project, is part of the administration’s broader plan to modernise transportation infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In addition to the Lagos event, President Tinubu is expected to virtually inaugurate several other completed signature projects across Southern Nigeria, reflecting his administration’s commitment to national development and regional connectivity.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is envisioned to link several coastal states and drive economic activity along Nigeria’s southern corridor.
