Amid excitement, women across Isale-Eko, Olowogbowo and Okoo faji communities trooped out in large numbers to solicit support and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos Island local government chairmanship candidate, Hon. Taiwo Oyekan on Thursday 26 June, 2025.
Under heavy downpour, different women associations and residents distributed flyers containing a 7-point agenda and account of stewardship of Hon. Oyekan.
Addressing the participants, Hon. Oyekan said: “This walk is not just political in nature but a movement for qualitative grassroot governance , propelled by passion to serve and progressive leadership”.
He stated further that upon assumption of office, he would serve the locals diligently and deliver dividends of democracy in every community.
In an interview, Mrs. Sidikat Maiyegun-Yekini said Lagos Island women would deliver massive votes for Hon. Oyekan at the poll.
“He has been in the system, and he has carved a niche for himself. I urge him when voted into power on July 12, he should focus more on provision of social amenities, people’s welfare, economic empowerment and security” Mrs.
Maiyegun-Yekini said.
She noted that Hon. Oyekan had recorded unprecedented achievements as a honourable councillor.
She urged eligible voters to rally behind the flagbearer.
“I believe Taiwo Oyekan would win with wide margin”, she stated.
Popular Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa enjoined Lagos Island residents to vote for Hon. Oyekan.
She described the APC chairmanship candidate as a symbol of hope and good governance.
“He is a true indigene of Lagos Island. Taiwo is your son, friend and a Kind-hearted individual”, she said.
Another participant, Amudat from ward A3 called on eligible voters to come out enmass on July 12 to vote for Hon. Oyekan. She hailed the APC chairmanship candidate’s sterling stewardship and personality.
A resident of Okoo Faji community in Onola quarters, Mrs. Idowu Sanusi Shitta-Bay (Iya Ewee) admonished the electorate to elect Hon. Oyekan as the next executive chairman of Lagos Island local government.
“In my community, I am personally canvassing for Hon. Oyekan”, She hinted.
Report shows that the political campaign recorded massive turnout.
