
The Lagos State Government has defended the sale of packing bags in malls despite the ban on single-use plastics, stating it’s a global practice to curb waste and encourage reuse.
Special Adviser Olawale Akodu clarified that buying bags is optional, as customers can bring their own. The state began full enforcement of its plastic ban on July 1, targeting items like Styrofoam packs and lightweight nylons.
