Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a divided and weak party that poses no threat to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
This comes as the ADC questioned whether President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is still in control of the country, citing the activities of bandits who extort money from farmers in Zamfara and the sacking of an entire village in Kwara incidents the party says erode state authority and entrench criminality nationwide.
Speaking to journalists after visiting APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, in Abuja, Governor Sule dismissed any concerns over the new political alliance.
He said: “I don’t know about ADC, ADC actually, from what I was told, is a split, not from our party, but from another party, and so if it is a split from another party, well, they are only getting weaker, you know, so as far as we are concerned, we are not worried about that.
“We have never been worried about opposition, we have always been concerned about our strength and what we need to do in order to give back to the good people of Nigeria.
“And I think that is what Mr. President has always done, and that is why all of us governors are doing what we can do best in our various states, in order to support our administration, and we have to continue to do that.
“Me, personally, I don’t pay attention to what the other parties are doing, because I am more concerned about what my party is doing.”
In a statement by its spokesman, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the growing insecurity caused by bandits across the country requires “immediate serious attention” to restore order and safeguard lives and livelihoods.
