Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to establishing a framework that bridges developmental gaps, harnesses regional advantages, and creates opportunities for growth across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the Federal Government has said.
The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, stated this in Abuja at the weekend while inaugurating the governing boards of three regional development commissions under his ministry’s supervision: the South South Development Commission (SSDC), the South West Development Commission (SWDC), and the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
Momoh charged the boards to diligently carry out their mandates, stressing that their programmes must align with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
These, he said, include economic reforms for sustainable growth, national security, agricultural development, energy and natural resources harnessing, infrastructure expansion, as well as investments in education, health, and social welfare.
“The attainment of the deliverables is hinged on your performance to consolidate on the efforts of the Ministry.
“The Ministry, in turn, will initiate the process to obtain your full commitment by signing a Performance Bond with you very soon,” Momoh explained, noting that his ministry already signed a Performance Bond with the President.
He added that inaugurating the boards signals hope for millions of people across the three regions, urging them to design people-focused projects that can accelerate equitable and balanced development.
Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, said the commissions’ mandates go beyond administrative functions, describing them as catalysts for infrastructure renewal, social empowerment, and economic diversification.
He challenged the new boards to ensure prudent resource use while promoting transparency and accountability.
