Hon. Prince Taiwo Oyekan, the executive chairman of Lagos Island local government, fetes traditional religion adherents across Isale-Eko, Olowogbowo, and
Okoo faji communities on Isese Day 2025 celebration.
Speaking with Newsmen, Hon. Oyekan enjoined the worshippers to uphold religious tolerance and harmony.
He urged the adherents and residents to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity.
The Head of Unit, Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Heritage Maintenance, Mr. Abdulkareem Oladapo Balogun said this year’s celebration is projected to promote cultural awareness and foster community participation, the value and teachings of the yoruba culture and tradition.
Continuing, He said, “the Isese Day annual celebration is part of the THEMES+ agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to make Lagos state a 21st century Tourism and Entertainment destination”.
According to him, Hon. Oyekan is poised to identify, preserve, and promote culture and tourism on Lagos Island.
Isese day is set aside to celebrate Yoruba traditional religion, the Deities (Orisha), and cultural heritage.
Major highlights of the festival were annual sacrifice, procession, cultural display, and entertainment.
