In its bid to restore orderliness, environmental cleanliness and free flow of traffic in communities and markets, the Lagos Island local government authority has held Stakeholders meeting with Community Development Associations and Market Associations leaders at the local government Secretariat, on Tuesday 30 September, 2025.
Addressing the gathering, the vice chairman, Hon. Olatunji Issa Arulai Folami cautioned Traders against street trading, indiscriminate
parking, loading, and offloading of goods on the road.
He stated further that any individual caught flouting environmental laws shall face the full wrath of the law.
“We shall embark on inspection of markets to assess the level of compliance”, he concluded.
On his part, the Head of Department, Environmental Services and Waste Management, Dr. Richard Adeyemi Tella tasked the locals and traders to obey environmental sanitation laws and maintain personal and community
hygiene.
“Henceforth, we will enforce environmental laws to the letter”, he vowed.
Dr. Tella enjoined the stakeholders to collaborate with the local government in its quest to reignite orderliness.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, the Baba Oloja-General of Lagos Island local government, Alh. Lateef Iyaniwura expressed their readiness to adhere to environmental sanitation laws and regulations.
The Community Development Associations lauded Hon. Prince Taiwo Ajibade Oyekan’s administration for its qualitative approach to grassroots governance.
